Who's behind Azuca

For those who don't know us yet: as passionate dancers and music lovers of Cuban culture, we have made it our mission to focus on purely Cuban events. In addition to the "Azuca" party series, we host a number of dance-weighted boot camps and, most recently, salsa festivals such as "Cuba Alaaf".

In 2017, Yala founded her own 100% Cuban music party in Cologne called "Azuca". A name inspired by the unique Celia Cruz, whose charisma, voice and typical vocation captivated the whole world - porque la vida es un carnaval mi gente!

Dieter joined as "Azuca dad" around 2018 and supports Yala in their joint vision to establish the Cuban scene in Cologne more strongly. Since then, there have been various events in form of intensive workshops and partys to share the passion and joy of Cuban music and culture!

So the series of events has grown continuously over the years and we are very happy to welcome each and every one of you to our events!
Thank you for your support and trust! Gracias familia <3

Yala

Inspired by our neighbouring country France, she got more and more involved in the Cuban dance scene and quickly realized that there was no 100% pure Cuban party in Cologne and a general lack of female DJs. All of this combined strengthened her decision to take the bold step and go her own way as an organiser and as a Cuban music DJ.

Dieter

Passionated by the cultural values expressed by Cuban music and Cuban dances such as Rumba and Afro, he took every opportunity to develop himself and very soon started teaching in Germany. In addition, he is also known as a DJ and has meanwhile started his own dance school called “Aguanile”.

Betül

Wherever a Rueda de Casino is danced, our adventurous cheerful nature Betül is not far away, promised! You can SEE and HEAR her at the same time, because she loves to dance along in every Rueda as follower or cantante. So if you need someone for your Rueda, you can always count on her.

Wherever there is a rueda being danced, our adventurous cheerful nature is not far away, we promise! You can see and HEAR her at the same time, because she loves to dance along with a rueda as well as announce it. So if you need someone else for your rueda, you can always count on her.
